How we give back

Besides dealing almost primarily with Canadian companies (often run by women), we help in as many ways as we can to make things better!  We donate very regularly to local fundraising efforts, we donate annually to The Legion through our poppy sales.  We carry several lines that donate through our purchases to causes like cancer, wildlife, education without borders, dog rescues, Canadian Red Cross (Ukraine), clean water, women's advancement etc.  We also buy locally made goods from over a dozen artisans.  We are the largest local distributor of the Pokoloko line of fair trade, artisan made goods.  Our brand, Fred & Alice also uses all ethically sourced, vegan ingredients and glassware that we reuse if you return it!
I hope we can continue as a community to lift one another up in this world!
Local Spotlight!
Midtown Mugs
Midtown mugs highlight local landmarks, events and ideas that hold special meaning to the people who work and play in Midtown.
Mugs are $20, dishwasher safe, designed and made in Midtown. All proceeds go to KDCHC!

Midtown stockings
Every year Midtown collects items for Kitchener Downtown Community Health Centre (KDCHC) to distribute to people experiencing homelessness over the holiday season.
People who work at KDCHC tell us these small gifts are really meaningful to the people who receive them.
Since 2020 we haven’t gathered in person to collect and package the stockings. All proceeds raised go to purchase stocking items and support the outreach program.
Mug descriptions
Midtown Playground
The Mount Hope Cemetery has a rich history, but for many residents and students it’s valued for winding walking trails, mature trees, bats and birds.
The car free status makes it a carefree place to run and play.
Soupstock
Celebrating the simplicity of sharing soup with neighbours. A Buckner brainchild, it’s held in October, about a month after the street party.
Bring a crock of soup, a bowl and a spoon, and meet your neighbours!
The Bad Habit
A good idea whose time should come soon at the Sacred Heart convent on Moore. This neighbourhood pub would
give us a place to gather and greet all year round!
If you believe it, it will come.
Spur line trail
The spur line rail got a trail in 2016. Stretching from Kitchener’s Via train station to uptown Waterloo, it’s a much loved pedestrian and bicycle corridor for
Midtown.
Just watch out for the occasional night train carrying toxic chemicals to Elmira!
American Sycamore
Midtown residents’ favourite tree is usually the one they see from their window. But special mention goes to
this amazing tree at Agnes and King.
American Sycamore is critical for local wildlife and children. You might just love it too!
Dead centre of Midtown
The Mount Hope cemetery really is the heart of Midtown. Residents, students, patients, workers, bats, birds ... there’s a place for everyone.
